This is such a special read Marcus, thank you for giving us this insight. I feel privileged that you’ve shared this aspect of your life to us; it’s incredibly heartwarming that you’ve opened up to this extent about something so personal
Hey Marcus, this is tough news at the start of the holidays. Keep your head up and keep pushing. My younger brother was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma earlier in the summer, at 19 years old. It has been a tough time as he and I grew up with not just playing sports, but also with every interest we both shared. Honestly, I find it funny that I am reading this post tonight because I just got back home after seeing family and couldn't stop thinking of him.
As a big brother, he has shown me so much more than what I thought went through his ears and out the other. I am sure you have similar values, mindset, and teachings that you have passed down to your brother. Which I assume is how this whole Minted New York is even succeeding from square 1 lmao. Stay strong and continue to be that older brother. I'll be rooting for you along with many others! Your videos have helped me get back into running (actually running) and have helped ME deal with this tough time and keep my mind right. Also annoy the little brother with every instagram post in his dms. I appreciate you and your brother's connection and cannot wait to see where it goes!!!
Marcus, thank you for sharing this, as someone who struggles with over-thinking, specifically around health, running has also helped me. My family has a strong history of cancer and as a college wrestler, I always had winters to focus on sports, once that phase of my life was over I found myself getting lost in health anxiety every fall and winter falling into seasonal depression and a strong anxious belief that, that feeling had to have a physical diagnosis... there was no way it could all be mental... anyway, we all run for a reason, I am proud of you for being vulnerable and sharing, wishing you all the best!
keep truckin’ man. you inspire a lot of folks. me included.
to the road ahead,
