Work-board Week of August 7th, 2022
The past two weeks have been quite a whirlwind of progress. Shawn and I were slated to head home and visit with my parents and sister for a few days (Thursday through Sunday).
Roughly 3 hours before our flight was supposed to take off, I got word that our athletics apparel had landed in the port of New Jersey and would be clearing customs that day. Getting this call meant we would receive a truckload of product at the warehouse the next day (Friday).
We canceled our flights and awaited updates on where the freight was and if it was on time. There was a delay, and we had to push the delivery window off until Monday next week. Such is life.
Run Club Hoodie Buffer Items
The first time we released the Run Club hoodies in December of 2021, I made a brutal mistake of not including enough buffer items to prevent an oversell. Since then, we have a system that leaves us with enough stock to not oversell and have stock for exchanges / potential defects.
Linen Trousers
The linen trouser release will consist of three (3) colorways (Olive Pinstripe, Natural Pinstripe, and the blue pair with the embroidery design). I am torn between releasing these with the athletics apparel (below) or as their own separate release. Everything is ready to go except for the product photos, which should be done within the next 3 or so business days.
I think that down the road, we need to bring all photography in-house for a much quicker turnaround. I believe the initial setup cost will be much higher. Still, it will be cheaper and faster to get our photography done in the long run this way.
Athletics Release
The bulk of our next release for Minted New York will be athletic performance apparel. This will include the following items (if we can fit anything else in, or if anything comes in between now and release… we will add it). I anticipate this release happening around the 24th or 25th of August:
Running Shorts (with and without liner - Black, Grey, Blue)
Performance Tank Top
Mesh Shorts (Black, Yellow, Blue)
Performance Short Sleeve (Blue, “Run Club” back print)
As we look into fall/winter, I would love to hear what items you all are missing from your wardrobe or would like to see us make. We are currently in the process of sketching and coming up with a ton of ideas for future products. Fall / Winter apparel gives us an entirely new universe in which we can operate. Our capabilities have come far since our first fall/winter in business.
Have an incredible week!
Training
This week's training block was 58 miles with 4 lifts:
Monday: Rest (Lift - Push)
Tuesday: 9 Miles (Gen-Aerobic) (Lift - Pull)
Wednesday: 14 Miles (Med-Long Run) (NO LIFT)
Thursday: 5 Miles (Recovery) (Lift - Push)
Friday: 11 Miles (Med-Long Run) (Lift - Pull)
Saturday: 5 Miles (Recovery) (No Lift)
Sunday: 18 Miles (First 8 miles at general aerobic, last 10 miles at marathon pace) (No Lift)
This 18-mile run was a miss for me. The humidity, even at 7am on a Sunday morning, was 80%. The Dew point was around 65, and the temperature was already cracking the 80s. I felt the toll of the heat and the extra work my body had to do to regulate internal temperature. By mile 12, I was in survival mode, just trying to ensure I completed the mileage.
I felt gassed. Alas, we got it done, failing the allotted pacing the plan had given us.
